DJ Eric A Naro / Ludmann (Heidelberg)
Apart
from dancing and teaching, Eric is also a DJ. He is opening the
camp - making you dance into the camp flow. After three visits to BsAs,
the traditional Tango has got
a central place in Eric's DJing... (with Tandas & Cortinas)! As a
DJ Eric will give everything - and even more..;-)

Nico (Dresden)
Today's
set meal consists of handpicked Tandas, served between different
Cortinas. The ingredients for both the starter and the main dish are
mainly selected Tangos, Valses and Milongas of the traditional
Argentine cuisine. Especially for the later courses I add fresh
ingredients for all tastes. Enjoy your meal!
* All ingredients
are organically grown. Since this is a natural product, the percentage
of the fixings might differ somewhat. Might contain traces of nuts. We are again looking forwad to Nico's special menu!

Johan Steyn (Dublin)
I am primarily a traditional Tango DJ finding my favourites in the
1930s and 1940s. I follow the TTVTTM structure framed by short
cortinas, but occasionally (if dancers seem to want it) I play a
'special' tanda after every cycle - often Tango Nuevo, Electro Tango or
a modern arrangement of a traditional tango. Sometimes even a piece of
Non-Tango...

Max Peschek (Bremen)
DJ Max has been DJing regularly for 21 years in Bremen, for the
past six years in his own studio "La Boca" and as a guest DJ at other
locations, too.
"I'm looking forward to excavating for you some fine pieces of the big orchestras as well as a few little known tango diamonds."

Mike Rose (Cambridge)
I first DJ-ed about 12 years ago in Cambridge which is where I have
mostly DJ-ed. I've also provided the music in Sweden (Trengtan),
Oxford, Norwich and Birmingham.
When DJ-ing I watch the dancers and adjust the playlist accordingly.

DJTJ Thomas Jordan (Dresden)
The
dancers on the floor form an evenly flowing stream. I am its bed,
sometimes the stream gets more shallow and therefore faster, then I
become deeper again with the stream slowing down, I become narrower,
take a turn, there might be turbulences and whirls. With awareness and
delight we float through 3/4, 4/8, 2/4 beats and through the summer
night. The stream passes little villages, landings, pubs on the river
bank exhaling different, refreshing music as a short glance into new
musical worlds. But soon the stream flows ahead with you toward its far
away destination.

Sabine Zubarik (Erfurt)
When
DJing two things are important for me: All pieces must be good to dance
to (for Tango dancers), and that the night follows a general
choreography, avoiding an emotional roller coaster after every song.
Vals and Milonga will not be missed out, and I like Tandas and
Cortinas. In short, I try to create a milonga that I myself would love
to go to ;-).

John-Michael Mendizza (Erfurt)
I have been DJing somewhat regularly almost as long as I have been
dancing, and I realize more and more as my dancing progresses the
importance not just of good music, but arranged in the right structure
to make a nice environment for a long night of dancing.
To that end, I try to key my DJing to create the right flow and feeling
for the evening so that everyone will be caught up in the mood of the
Milonga and dance the whole night long.

Steve McKay (London)
At Phantastango
I will probably play 95 - 100% traditional until half time of the
night, then toward 50 - 50. But I am flexible and keep always watching
the atmoshpere on the dancefloor. I've been DJing since 2000 and are
mainly influenced by El Corte (Nijmegen, Netherlands), where I am a
regualar dancer (and occasional DJ). Apart from the traditionals from
1935 - 1960, I sometimes excavate little treasures from the 20s. And,
of course, for me DJing is more than to play good music: 'It ain't
[just] what you play, it's the way that you play it'.

Robert Goldwein (Prague)
I've been DJing for several years now on a regular basis, almost always
in Prague. I like it when classical tandas are well-balanced with
contemporary and modern tandas; I play alternative tandas when the mood
on the dance floor is right for that. I always play cortinas, and I
care about what I play as cortina as much as what I play in tandas.

Thomas Henschel (Berlin)
For
15 years now, Thomas Henschel is the man behind the Tangobar at the
Haus der Sinne, Berlin. Always open for a surprise and looking for
undiscovered musical diamonds, he - being a dancer himself - is not
afraid of occasionally playing a challenging music. His DJing is led by
a joy of music and variety in styles from traditional pieces to current
tunes.
Thomas with his red'n'yellow classic Hanomag caravan and his accordion are a fix part of PHANTASTago from the very beginning :-). We are looking forward to a wonderful Tango brunch on the final day!
