Cuarteto Rotterdam
Cuarteto Rotterdam is Tango - passionate, virtuous and powerful - and all that respecting the more than 100 years of Tango history.

Keeping the full respect of the tradition, they play the early and still not so triste tangos of the "Guardia Vieja" in a light and playful manner, that make tango lovers longing for dance. Also, the highlights of the "Golden Era" of the 40s such as Di Sarli, Troilo, D'Arienzo, Pugliese and Salgán are staged in the compact quartet sound. The cuarteto feels and, makes the audience feel, too, strongely connected to Piazzolla's challenging music with all its melancholy and complexity.  And, they are curious for the new developments in Tango,  represented by interesting pieces of contemporary Argentinian and European composers of the 21st century.

The classic formation of the Tango quartet compiling of bandoneon, violin, piano and double bass  promises an incredible sound changing between tradition and modern currencies. This relatively small Tango orchestra enchants the audience with its experience, creativity and phantasy. The Cuarteto Rotterdam was founded in 2004 by S. Cordula Welsch, Judy Ruks and Michael Dolak. They met at "Rotterdam Academy for World Music", Netherlands, where they had been studying at that time. Since sommer 2008 the experienced Tango musician Tino Scholz is the man behind the double bass. Currently, the quartet is playing in international concert halls and Tango festivals in Paris, Turin, Lyon or Montreux and is celebrated by Tango dancers and the concert audiences alike.

The singer, guitarist and composer Sergio Gobi was born in 1963 in Urdampilleta (Buenos Aires). His musical roots go back to Argentinian folklore. He plays guitar since the age of six. In the 80s he spent several years in Brazil, where he learned about and played Bossa Nova. In 1992 he also graduated in painting at the school of fine arts in Buenos Aires.
Since the early 90s he is dedicated to Tango. He played together with Coco Nelegatti, Roger Helou, Puro Apronte, Cuarteto de Oro, Orquesta Sabor a Tango and Josè Mosalini's Grand Orchestre de Tango, too. Also, Sergio acts and plays in the Tango show "Radio Tango". Since 2001 he is based in Berlin and is singer of "Sexteto Andorinha", "Quinteto Angél" and "La Rolando Rivas". With his bands "6 Australes" and "Flor und Fauna", he mainly stages his own compositions. Still, painting is an important part of his life beside the music.
