Mariano Otero y Alejandra Heredia (BsAs)

Since 2003 Mariano Otero and Alejandra Heredia have been working together with both established Spanisch and international orchestras as well as well-known dancers.

Their stage shows included e.g.  Duas Beiras, Cabaret Tango Baires Dunes, Tango & Wine, Milonguero, Maria de Buenos Aires and Let's Tango with Odense Symphony Orchestra (Danmark)

In their theatrical work humor and drama are merged. "La Costura del Corazón" (Festival Cambalache de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires 2010) is the story of a love between a tailor, a woman and a model, "Ello" tells us in three scenes about a couple living in the global Argentine Tango (Mariano as "ello", Alejandra as "ella") and "Linyeras" is the tale of two homeless in a hostile city.

They are invited to festivals around the globe as both teachers and show dancers (Wuppertal, TangoMatrix, Leipzig, Catania, Oldenburg, Aix en Provence, Monprimblanc, Rovinj, Innsbruck, Vilnius Tango Fiesta, Tangogreece Festival, Istanbul Tango Festival, CITA and Lissabon Tango Festival).

They also trained dancers in other styles such as ballet, contemporary dance, jazz dance and free dance.

Daniela Pucci & Luis Bianchi (New York/BsAs)

Daniela and Luis met in 2005, during her first trip to Buenos Aires. What was supposed to be Luis's last tanda for the night turned into two hours of dancing together. The magical connection they experienced that night led them to join their paths. Daniela left her career as an MIT engineering professor to become Luis’s tango partner. Luis left Buenos Aires to join her in New York City, where they lived from 2006 to 2012. In 2012 they embarked on a new adventure together, moving back to Buenos Aires where they are setting up their tango studio and guest house.

Since the beginning of their professional partnership in 2006, Daniela and Luis have established themselves as popular dancers and instructors, as evidenced by their curriculum spanning festivals, workshops and performances in more than 80 cities distributed across four continents.

As performers, Daniela and Luis' found their home in the spontaneity and profound focus of improvisation. Their goal is to feel and to make feel; to lose themselves in a four-way communication with each other, the music and the audience. To that end they greedily avail themselves of techniques and tools across all tango styles, never losing sight that these are only a means and never an end. The result is a charismatic dance that is infused with joy, sincerity and heartfulness, with occasional touches of comedy.?
?
Daniela and Luis approach teaching with seriousness and passion. They are fascinated by the challenges posed by the transmission of tango and constantly refining their syllabus. Deeply empathetic, they strive to create an atmosphere of generosity and acceptance in class and often make use of a bit (or more) of humor to ensure that the learning process stays enjoyable. They have developed a teaching methodology that leverages Daniela’s engineering, mathematics and classical piano and Luis’s massage therapy backgrounds, prioritizing proper body mechanics, improvisation skills and deep musical understanding over complex sequences of steps. Their ultimate goal is to help students dance with ease and confidence, create a pleasurable experience for their partners and find their own unique tango voice.

Besides their participation in numerous tango events around the world, other accomplishments they are most proud of are: the assistance of ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White in their Argentine tango-based routine, which won the 2011 World Championship; the creation in 2008 of The Tango Zone Dance Company with fellow dancers Ana Padron and Diego Blanco and production of “Man Vs Time" and "Dreamonia”, a double-feature, 90-minute multimedia show combining tango, theater, comedy and film; and the development of their “Buenos Aires Immersion Seminar,” a 20-hour training program with zero (0!) complex sequences, focusing on technique, body awareness, connection, musicality and floorcraft, which is offered yearly in Buenos Aires since 2011.

Julian Elizari & Jasminka Stenz (BsAs/Berlin)
Tango & Contact Improvisation
Unfortunately as well Lina Marie Rohde as Martin Espindola had to call off their participacion... :-) Therefore Julian will be supported by Jasminka Stenz :-)

Julian is a dancer, improviser, performance artist, teacher and student. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and is currently residing is Berlin, Germany.
Julian started his education in dance already at a young age. He practiced physical theatre with Pablo Bontä and took classes with traditional Tango dancers like Pepito Avellaneda, Mingo Pugliese & Ester, Pupi Castello, Tete and others.
He studied contemporary dance, release, low flow and contact improvisation. Finally he received his degree from the Institute of National Education in Bs As, Argentina.
His passion for dance and movement lead him to continue working and travelling in Europe as a dancer and Tango teacher. He worked in Florence as actor and dance teacher, in Londond as choreographer, as dancer in Warsaw, at several European Tango festivals, at the Contact Improvisation festival in Freiburg and at EIMCILA (a meeting of contact improvisation teachers) in BsAs.

Actually he is making his own performances and teaches Tango and
Contact Improvisation in theatre schools in Italy, Berlin and at different Tango festivals as Tango Magia (Amsterdam) Ibiza Tango Love, Ponderosa dance experience.

Jasminka raised in Swizerland/Basel, absolved the education TIP (contemporary dance, improvisation and performance) at bewegungs-art in Freiburg, and is now living in Berlin as freelance dancer and choreographer.

Tango made her becoming a dancer.
It was first the music of tango and then the dance itself that made me dance. I dived deeply into the world of tango in Basel. Its passion braught me to the point of life where I decided to get a professional dancer.

Contact Improvisation
... is a partner dance practice that emerged from contemporary dance, martial art, and body/mind/awareness practices, and has been evolving in the last 40 years. Through listening to ourselves, our partners, and the possibilities of the present moment, we find ways to move together in an improvised way.
We will discover ways to come into a dialogue with others as well as with the floor, moving in the space, landing and rising up, connecting with my partner, using the spirals of the human body... We will be awakening the physical and the sensory.
Dancing in a playful and spontaneous way, using the principles of Contact Improvisation and Tango too, playing with physical forces as gravity, levity, momentum and inertia...
The dance can be very physical and meditative or relaxed – we choose together within the present moment. Respecting our possibilities and playing with qualities of contact.
The work is based in finding resources that will enrich our improvisation.

Guggi Zuzakova & Gustavo Colmenarejo (Zurich/BsAs)

What fascinates both in working together, are their differences: Guggi is educated in contemporary and classic dance as well as Contact Improvisation, Gustavo's is a trained Tango and folklore dancer. These different roots are an inspiration for both and enrich their tango.

Gustavo was born in Bs As, where he had attended various music and dance schools since he was a child. He studied ballet, modern dance as well as Argentinian folkore specialising in later years in Tango Argentino, Milonga and "Vals Porteno". His Tango de Salon, described as both elaborate and harmonic, is based on his great musicality, which allows him to explore the endless possibilites of the dance. A main aspect in his work as a teacher is to support his students in their process of improving their knowledge of themselves and their body. Consequently, he wants to enable tango dancers to find their own style, allow improvisation as well as spontaneity from the very beginning. Gustavo's teaching follows the track from simplicity to complexity providing the learners with both the knowledge and the necessary tool kit to find their own way in the dance.

Already at a young age Guggi discovered the magic of the stage. She was interested in all sorts of movements and gained her first stage experiences with acrobatics, circus artistics and theater. She found tango argentino in her hometown Zurich, Switzerland, when she was still on secondary school, and attended all classes offered by the rare visiting teachers at that time.
Guggi studied at the dance academy "Hoogeschool voor de Kunsten Arnhem" in The Netherlands. She is trained in contemporary dance, ballet, partnering, contact improvisation, pilates and choreography. Her love for tango never left her during her studies. She started to teach with Ard Huiberts at "Flor de Fango" in Arnhem and gave workshops in Germany.
Guggi became well-known as dancer and teacher, she teaches classes, follower's technique, her creation of Pilatango and she is also a DJane. Now, based in Berlin, she is working in different tango schools and is a regular guest teacher at tango holidays and festivals all over Europe. She works either alone or with partners as Ard Huiberts, Gustavo Colmenarejo and Ezequiel Farfaro.
It is important for her to keep developing and finding new ways to her Tango.
In her choreographic work she merges tango and contemporary dance. Moreover, she mixes elements of the tango with such of other performing arts and media.
Guggi has become a very sought-after tango dancer mainly because she simply loves her work and is always open for new ways and interesting projects.

Andrea Savage & Axel Korf (Giessen/Cologne)
Unfortunately Jeroen had to cancel his participation in the camp for health reasons! We wish you a speedy recovery! Andrea is therefore supported by Axel Korf :-)

Axel is thrilled with the fullness of creative possibilities and non-verbal communication since he first met with the tango 7 years ago. Based on his fundamental education as a coach for various sports (tennis, ski & sailing) and his sensitive educational style, he quickly won students in Aachen, Cologne and the surrounding area for his lessons.
Dancing with Andrea he especially loves the free improvised playing in open dialogue.

As offspring of a family of musicians, Andrea's way lead straight to dancing - from Folklore to ballet, she loved them all. She has been loving, living and breathing Tango for 14 years. Five years ago Andrea started living her dream of an own Tango school in the heart of Germany, Gießen.

In the class they take care with patience for all individual types of learners. Andrea & Jeroen teach Tango with technical refinement and a lot of feedback, but not without a good dose of humor. Their dance is gentle, playful and symbiotic, mainly in Milonguero style. But their minds are open enough for different Tango evolutions as well as for all sorts of Tango fun.

Sabine Zubarik & John-Michael Mendizza (Erfurt/Santa Barbara)

Sabine and John-Michael teach together in Erfurt and other places in Germany as well as in the US. They also both DJ at various events.

Sabine’s main interest is didactics; she organizes the annual TangoTeacherMeeting in Erfurt now in its 4th year, and leads courses for teachers. In addition, she researches tango academically.

John-Michael and Sabine teach close as well as open embrace; with uncomplicated step material they try to convey a feel for musical dancing.

They designed the beginner workshops in a way that combines one specific essential technique, a musical detail and a certain figure element for each class. These workshops are ideal for new people, but role changers and experienced dancers who want to focus specifically on one of these themes can also profit from it and are most welcome.
