You play an instrument or sing in your free time, or you are even a professional – and you would like to explore tango not only from a dance perspective, but also from a musical one? Then our participant orchestra is perfect for you – because it's a lot of fun!!!
In our daily rehearsals, we work on the important aspects of (tango) music using selected pieces: ensemble playing, phrasing, rhythm, improvisation, microphone techniques, and managing stage fright. Throughout the week, we'll develop a program that we'll perform for the dancers on the final Saturday.
We will provide you with the preparatory materials (arrangements or lead sheets, lyrics, and MP3s) after you've registered for the Orchestra.
Please be sensitive to copyright issues. The arrangements are provided for our event only - so please do not pass them to others. Also if you want to use them in another context, please ask the providers for permission. It takes a lot of work and effort to produce the arrangements and we want to support the friendly people that make it possible to play this wonderful music!

Arne Kühr is a guitarist, educator and head of the Giessen public music school. In an introductory workshop he will guide you into a good mood for a relaxed and pleasurable interaction within the orchestra. At the end he will prepare you for the concert with some important tricks for dealing with stage fright and the sensible use the miking. As your sound engineer he will care for a gould stage sound and provide you with a recording of the concert as a nice souvenir! |
